Statement

There are a number of reasons for the Höri Music Festival to join the Beethoven Pastoral Project on World Environment Day.
The venue of the Höri Music Festival is the ideal place to experience the fascination of nature and to send a significant signal for the protection of our threatened environment.
The western end of Lake Constance where the Rhine emerges from the lake is an enchanted water landscape where water fowl, waves and beach grass join together in a never ending concert with all of nature’s different sounds. Throughout the seasons it is the stage for an ever changing interplay of light and colours.
It is from here that the Rhine carries downriver this spectacle of sounds, colours and the associated dreams and hopes, thus connecting us directly with Beethoven’s native town.
That alone seems reason enough for the Höri Musik Festival’s participation in the Pastoral Project.
For centuries the Augustinian monastery of Öhningen has risen majestically over the unique landscape of the peninsula Höri. It is in this border area between Germany and Switzerland, at the external border of the European Union, in the heart of Europe, where the Höri Music Festival established itself a few years ago. This young international festival for classical music
has set out to preserve and renew the cultural heritage, to overcome barriers and to transcend borders – entirely in the spirit of the great pioneering composer Ludwig van Beethoven.
This, too, is reason for joining the Pastoral Project.
