»It seems as if every tree is speaking to me«, Beethoven enthusiastically wrote during his stays in the countryside. In times, when environmental and climate matters become more prevailing than ever, Beethoven’s 250th birthday is an opportunity to explore and question the interaction between man and nature. Based on the »Pastoral Symphony«, expression of his deep love of nature, Dresden students of Secondary School, University and Conservatory create a musical theatre piece under the direction of Cathy Milliken (composition) and Robert Lehmeier (direction, libretto), which will be premiered on World Environment Day. With this work the young adults will make a musical statement: against environmental degradation, for sustainable development and climate protection!
