Statement

The Daegu Symphony Orchestra with half century of history (founded in Nov. 1964) is one of the representative art community in Daegu which was selected as the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

World-cosmopolitan reputation Maestro Julian Kovatchev, who serves as music director and executive conductor, and talented members are offering high-class classical music to the audience with a wide repertoire.

The Daegu Symphony Orchestra is very meaningful to participate in the Pastoral Project, which celebrates the 250th anniversary of the birth of the great composer Ludwig van Beethoven, in 2020.

L. van Beethoven got a heal, meditation and inspiration from ‘Nature’. We hope the project, which will play Pastoral, a symphony of various emotions-happiness, peace, joy and gratitude from Nature, will mark the seriousness of climate change and environmental destruction caused by human selfishness, while also exploring the coexistence of humans and nature, and sharing the value of sustainable ecological and biosphere conservation.

On World Environment Day designated by the United Nations, the Daegu Symphony Orchestra will perform Beethoven’s ‘Pastoral’ symphony to reflect on the importance and greatness of nature and join in a small effort to protect the only one earth.
