Statement

The Cheonan Philharmonic is a Korean orchestra based in Cheonan(“Peace under the Heaven”) and was founded in 2005. Despite its short history, the orchestra constantly pursues a wide spectrum of repertoire ranging from the Baroque period to the contemporary music.

Music Director, Moyoung Ku is one of the leading directors representing the Korean classical music scene and has led the group of talented artists to sweep their audiences off their feet.

It is a great honor to be part of the Beethoven Pastoral Project celebrating the beloved composer’s 250th Birthday and reaffirming the vision of harmonious co-existence of mankind and nature. This will give us an opportunity to raise awareness on protecting the environment through music.

Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony, the Pastorale, includes five movements with each movement symbolizing beautiful scenery of nature and reminding us of the joy and tranquility from each idyllic scene.

We wish to encourage the sense of preservation and sustainability through this 250 years old masterpiece and continue celebrating the “Peace under the Heavens” on the United Nations World Environment Day.
